How to Make Bowling Fun With Siblings

The game of bowling is rigid in its rules. The first ball of a frame that is thrown is either a strike or leads to a spare attempt. There are only 10 frames per game (except ties), and scoring is limited to 300 pins in a game. Rigid can mean boring to children, so some spicing up of the game is required to keep things interesting. Creating teams or playing a modified version of a basketball game are two ways to make bowling fun with siblings.

Instructions

    • 1

Take them bowling whenever laser or glow bowling (when the bowling establishments lights are turned down and laser lights and glow-in-the-dark pins are used along with loud music) is happening.

    • 2

Create teams between siblings and family members and compete for the best score. Have them alternate who throws first and who throws second so that everybody has an equal opportunity at strikes and spares.

    • 3

Arrange for prizes to be earned during a regulation game, such as an extra allowance or fewer chores to do during the next week.

    • 4

Set up a version of H-O-R-S-E that can be played on the bowling lanes (within reason, for safety purposes), such as knocking down a specific pin, rolling a ball down the lane through their legs or throwing a ball with their other hand.
