Speed Games
-
Some bowling alleys with digital scoring machines not only show the score on the screen, but the speed of the ball that was thrown. Compete to see who can roll the fastest bowling ball during your game of bowling. The ball must be rolled on the floor, it can not be thrown or what is known as "lofting" in bowling terms, as that can damage the lane and get you kicked out. Another version could be to compete to see who can throw the slowest ball. For both competitions, any ball in the gutter is disqualified and a tie is broken by the number of pins knocked down by the ball.
Bowling Cards
-
Each time a player gets a strike, award him two playing cards from a deck of 52 standard playing cards. With large groups of more than four players, shuffle at least two decks together so there are enough cards. A spare awards a player one card. The players get 10 points for each face card, 11 for an ace, and the face value for any other cards. The player that has the most number of points from the playing deck at the end of the game wins the card game. Even players that only get one or two spares or strikes can win the card game against a player that has the high score bowling. This makes the bowling cards game a good game for birthday parties where prizes can be given for the high bowling score and the high bowling cards score.
Spares And Strikes
-
Compete to see who can get the most spares and strikes during your bowling game. This means a single game could have three different winners. One would be the player with the highest score, another for the player with the most strikes, and a third prize for the player with the most spares. One player could win all three of these games, or different players can win each one. If there is a tie for most spares or strikes, use the bowling score as the tiebreaker. If there is a tie for highest score, use the number of strikes as the tiebreaker.
