Games for Campers

Games for campers provide hours of entertainment for children, teenagers and adults. There are numerous games to play and creative campers may invent games and alter the rules to add excitement. Plan the games before the camping trip to ensure you are organized and have all of the necessary materials.
  1. Scavenger Hunt

    • A scavenger hunt is an excellent game for campers. Make a list of items around the camp facilities and in the natural setting surrounding the camp. Place the campers in small teams and award prizes to the first team to assemble all of the items on the list. Make the list to familiarize the campers with the facilities and some of the natural features. Minimize the impact on the landscape by choosing renewable items like pine needles and river stones. Also supervise the groups and set boundaries to prevent campers from becoming lost.

    Heightened Senses

    • Heightened Senses requires campers to operate without the sense of sight in order to catch encroaching thieves. Place a blindfold on half of the players and have them assume a stationary position with an object on the ground in front of them. The other half of the players must steal the object without being caught by the blindfolded players. If the thief is heard, he must leave the game. The last player standing or the player with the most stolen objects wins the game. Switch the roles to ensure each camper experiences the stalking process.

    Tracker

    • Order a set of molded animals prints and use the prints to make impressions in the ground. Label each set of tracks with a number and ask the campers to identify the tracks. Lead the campers to prizes with the tracks but make the trail difficult to follow. The campers may discover the prizes as they follow the tracks. Use a wide variety of predator and game tracks to ensure the campers are challenged. Also add owl pellets and fake feces to identify different species.

    Marco Polo

    • Marco Polo is a fun camping game that requires a safe swimming pool. The game requires one person to be blindfolded while the other campers spread out in the water and minimize their noise. The blindfolded camper yells "Marco" and the other campers must respond with "Polo." The blindfolded individual will attempt to tag a person by following the sound. The first person to be tagged must take the blindfold and begin yelling "Marco."
