How to Fit a Bowling Ball

Check the weight. Pick up several up bowling balls with one hand, as you do when you're bowling, to get a good feel. You don’t want a ball that is too light or too heavy. The key is to be able to keep your balance when bowling with it. Obviously, the weight any one of us can handle is dependent on our body size. Once you find the weight that works for you, keep this number in the back of your head.

2
Check out the size of the holes. They need to be big enough so you can insert the majority of your fingers, but not so big that your digits may easily slip out. This can affect your ball release.

3
Pat attention to finger grip. When you hold your bowling ball, the grip needs to be as close to your natural hand shape as possible. This also extends to the spacing of the holes. It is possible for the finger holes to be too close together or not far enough apart. If either is the case, you need to keep looking at different hole patterns on balls that are your correct weight.

Do a test bowl. If you are still unsure about a certain ball, try it out. Roll it down the lane a few times. This is the true way to find out if the ball is right for you. If it still does not feel right, try a few more. You will know the fit is right if the ball you choose improves your performance.

Don't forget the color. The color of the ball should not affect your game, but psychologically speaking, you need to feel good about your ball in every possible respect.
