How to Make a Boxing Pendulum

Boxing is a good form of exercise and a great way to relieve stress, but boxing gym membership can be expensive. An alternative is to build parts of a boxing gym in a basement or outhouse. The start of any boxing gym is a pendulum, or heavy bag, that swings naturally as it is punched. Making one of these from old scraps is easy and fast, and will be just as effective as more expensive bought versions.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet of foam inside a duffel bag to form an outer lining. This will give a softer substance to punch.

    • 2

Fill a small garbage bag with sand and place in the bottom of the duffel bag to add weight. It is best to double bag the sand so it does not leak out.

    • 3

Stuff the rest of the duffel bag with old cloths and strips of fabric. Make sure the bag is tightly packed.

    • 4

Tie up the top of the duffel bag through the metal eyelets, and leave a loop of rope to hang from a hook in the ceiling.

    • 5

Insert a metal, self-threading hook into the ceiling. Hang the duffel bag from the hook
