Quick Handwraps for Children

Pantyhose
-
Old pantyhose lying around the house can easily be recycled as hand wraps for children and are easily balled up and transported in a small bag or pouch. Pantyhose are soft and washable, so they can be dropped into a washing machine and cleaned after use. Old pantyhose can be wrapped around each other to make the hand wraps thicker if necessary for a child's boxing glove.
Cotton Handwraps
-
Cotton handwraps are the classic material used by professional boxers. Companies that make and sell boxing equipment make them in all sizes, including ones for kids. Everlast makes youth cotton handwraps that consist of 108 inches of cotton material with a sturdy, elastic construction.
These cotton handwraps are also washable in a washing machine with towels and other hand washables and cost about $5 to $7 each. However, the material is a bit thick when wrapped around a child's hand and can get in the way of the mobility needed when boxing.
Ribbon
-
Ribbon is a quick and inexpensive way to wrap a child's hands to be used for boxing gloves, as it is soft and can be cut and disposed of when the child is finished using it. Ribbon is also easy to wind between a child's small fingers and around their wrists, so that they won't become too bulky and immobile.
However, ribbons don't offer much padding when they are wrapped around a child's hands and will create a lot of waste, as most likely the ribbons will have to be thrown away after each use.
