University of Florida Football Recruiting Information
-
Function
-
Florida football recruiting is conducted under the University's head coach, Urban Meyer. Meyer's staff of scouts evaluates high school football players nationally. Designated players are invited to tour the school and facilities.
Considerations
-
The University of Florida football program's illustrious history of success has placed an exclusive hallmark on its recruiting process. Only premier high school players are considered. All prospects must adhere to eligibility requirements set forth by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA.)
Scholarships
-
The NCAA allows the University of Florida (and each Division IA college football program) 85 scholarships. Not all scholarships are for full paid tuition to the university.
Open Tryouts
-
The university holds open tryouts for the football team each spring.
Academic Standards
-
All Florida student-athlete football players must adhere to the program's academic standards. More than 30 percent of scholarship players earned a 3.0 GPA at the University of Florida in the fall of 2008. According to the University of Florida, more than 100 football players have been named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll the last four years.
