Football-Themed Paint Ideas for Boys' Bedrooms

The Football Field
-
Paint the walls of the room so that it looks like an actual football field. Paint goal posts on opposite bedroom walls. Then, after the goal posts dry, add a blue textured sky on the top half of the wall and some stands on the bottom half. Depending on how specific you want to get, you may or may not want to add fans in the stands. Then on the two remaining walls, divide up the space into 10 equal parts and paint the football field. Each field wall should be identical to the opposite field wall. After placing a green layer down for grass, tape-off lines equidistant from each other, and paint the yard markers white. Use numerical stencils for the numbers on the field. If the walls are too small for an entire field, then paint half the field.
The Mascot Room
-
Locate an image of the mascot of your son's favorite team. Take it to your local print shop or office supply store to have the image enlarged until you are satisfied with the size. Then, bring it to your local home improvement or paint supply store to match the colors as closely as possible. Place small pin holes randomly throughout the entire mascot image and tape it to the wall. The pin holes serve as your painting guide. Therefore, the more pin holes you place, the more specific your guide. Paint over the pin holes in the mascot image with each corresponding color for that section. Once you remove the mascot from the wall, you'll see a framework or painting guide of the image. Simply fill in the rest of the color and allow it to dry. Your child can even help you with the project if he loves to paint.
Team Colors
-
If you want to create a more abstract homage to the game, use the colors of your son's current football team or his favorite collegiate or professional team. Decorating ideas include using the main color as the primary color for the wall and then using the secondary colors as trim around the wall. This makes the room comfortable and stylish for non-football fans, but also allows him to celebrate his passion for the team he loves.
Player Jerseys
-
Create a football jersey template from a piece of poster board. If your son has a jersey, you can simply place it on the board and trace it. Cut out your template. Next, tape it to the wall and trace around the jersey with a fine paint brush using the team color. Create number templates using stencils or another piece of poster board. Tape those to the corresponding places inside the jersey you just traced on the wall. Paint completely around the numbers with the jersey color. Once the paint is dry, remove the number templates and fill in the rest of the jersey color. Repeat this as many times as desired throughout the room using different numbers. To personalize the jerseys, create poster board letter templates of your son's last name, and tape them across the top of the jersey before filling in the rest of the color. If you do not have white walls, then you'll need to paint the numbers and letters with white paint after the first coat is dry.
