Rhian Brewster is one of the hottest prospects in England at present; on-loan from Liverpool – where he signed a five-year deal in July 2018 – the current Swansea starlet has netted four times in 11 appearances to take the second tier by storm. But, with his development accelerating at an incredible pace with the help of City boss Steve Cooper, does he have a future at the Welsh club?

Swansea hovering outside play-offs

Swansea’s head coach Steve Cooper is a former Liverpool Academy Coach who mentored Brewster and the Under-17 England side to World Cup success. Cooper’s assistant Mike Marsh also has links to the Reds, having won the FA Cup in his six years at Anfield. Those links proved vital for Swansea getting their man with a number of other destinations touted before Brewster, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool board decided on the Welsh city.

With Cooper quite obviously rating Brewster highly, the striker settled in perfectly at the Liberty Stadium, bringing a new dimension to the stuttering Swansea attack. That experience of being in a Champions League-winning environment certainly helped, and once the season resumes, Cooper and the Swansea faithful will be hoping for more of the same from the striker.

With Brewster in their side, the Swans certainly look a lot more promising and are priced at 28/1 with sites like Casinoza casino to finish as Championship winner but even this is a tad far-fetched with first-placed Leeds currently 18 points clear of the Welsh side.

Future undecided

Naturally, Swansea would want to keep hold of Brewster for another loan season if they do not make the Premier League this year. But, Jurgen Klopp will assess the forward in pre-season and make a decision about his future then.

There is, of course, a huge difference between excelling in the second tier and taking that form into the Premier League with another loan option perhaps the most likely outcome of Klopp’s analysis.

That would then work in Swansea’s favour. With Cooper seemingly getting the best out of Brewster at the right end of the Championship, the striker could well be added to the Welsh club’s roster for next season. And, if that does happen, then watch the Swans fly high.
