Football Training Drills – Pass Rushing Defensive Drill

Football Training Drills – Pass Rushing Defensive DrillOne of my favorite defensive drills is this Pass Rushing Drill.   Even though it is a defensive drill to work on pass rushing, the other linemen can work on their drive blocking techniques to counter the defender and this should make everybody that much better.

Pass Rushing Defensive Drill
1: Line up 5 linemen behind each other 5 yards apart acting as O-linemen.

2: Place the football 10 yards behind the last linemen.

3: One player at a time, line up in front of 1st player in 3 pt. stance.

4: On the whistle, D-linemen performs a Rip move then runs to the next teammate and gets set again. From there he performs in no particular order–SWIM, HAMMER, SPIN, and finishes with a BULL RUSH to get the ball.

Note: Defender should run to the next station, get set and wait for the whistle or a new cadence from the Coach.
After the players get better at this drill, this can be used as a warm up drill every day.
