How to Add a Bench to a Golf Cart

Adding an extra bench to a golf cart adds additional seating. This is a good option if the cart is used more for errands around town as opposed to on the links. Golf cart benches are available as kits. Kits include installation brackets and equipment to facilitate the installation. The task of adding the bench to the cart should take about two hours in a home workshop.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the cart in a garage or workshop and disconnect the battery. Place the parking brake on.

    • 2

Mark the area where the bench will be installed. Measure out where the mounting bolts are to be placed. Drill out the holes on the floor and wheel wells of the cart. File down the underside of the holes to prepare the holes for the bolts and lock nuts.

    • 3

Place the bench onto the cart and align the bench mount holes to the drilled cart-holes. Have a friend help with the lifting and mounting of the bench, which could be heavy.

    • 4

Screw the bolts into the holes. With the adjustable wrench, thread the lock nuts under the holes and tighten to secure the new bench to the golf cart.
