How to Tighten Hockey Skate Laces

Tying a hockey skate is the same as tying a shoe, except for a few modifications that will keep the skates tight during a game or practice. Hockey skates are often made of wax laces that grip to the skate. This helps prevent the laces from coming loose during play. Hockey players have the option of wrapping their laces around the back of the skate or under the boot.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull up each side of the first crossing of the laces near the toe. Continue to pull the crossings as you reach the top of the skate.

    • 2

Pull the top of the laces until they are tight. Cross the laces. Place one lace through the loop.

    • 3

Pull the laces in opposite directions. Wrap each lace around the back of the skate or under the boot and then bring them around to the front.

    • 4

Pull the laces tight and cross them. Place one lace through the loop, and pull each lace to close the loop.

    • 5

Create a loop with one lace. Wrap the other lace around the base of the loop. Tuck the lace that you wrapped around under the small loop that formed when you wrapped the lace.

    • 6

Pull each loop tight. Wrap one loop around the other and tuck it under the small loop. Pull each loop tight.
