How to Make a Duct Tape Hockey Puck

Hockey is a popular sport played throughout the United States and around the world. The basic equipment needed for a hockey game includes hockey sticks and a puck. For an impromptu hockey game or for a youth hockey game outdoors, you can create a homemade hockey puck using a dip can and duct tape.

  • Dip can (empty tobacco dip can)
  • Duct tape
  • 1/2 cup dirt or sand

      Gather and measure 1/2 cup of dry dirt or sand. Use dry dirt or sand to give the puck heft and prevent mold or mildew inside the can.

      Open the dip can and fill with the dirt or sand. Replace the lid. The dirt will add the necessary weight to the dip can.

      Wrap the sides of the dip can with two layers of duct tape. The duct tape will secure the lid on the can and keep it closed. Do not tape the top and bottom of the can, as this will hinder the can from sliding properly.
