How to Measure Goalie Pads
Instructions

1
Measure each pad that the goalie wears by itself. They are almost always a matched set, but to be legal, both pads still need to be measured. Measure the pad from side to side. To be legal, the pads must not be more than 11 inches wide.
-
2
Measure the pad from top to bottom to get the correct length. The pad cannot be more than 36 inches long from top to bottom.
-
3
Measure the blocker pad on the hand that holds the goalie's stick. That pad cannot be more than 15 inches long, nor more than 8 inches wide.
-
4
Measure the goalie's glove to make sure it is legal and not too wide. The goalie's glove, which is quite similar to the size and shape of a first baseman's glove in baseball, cannot be more than 8 inches wide.
-
5
Check the length of the catching glove, as well. There is no specific limitation to the length in inches, but the glove's extension cannot go past the elbow of the goaltender.
