1
Lay out rope in a loose horseshoe shape, being careful to secure the closest end with electrical tape. Measure 14 to 16 inches from the secured end and form a rough loop.
-
2
Loosen a braid of the rope above the loop and pull the secured end through the opening until a complete loop is formed.
-
3
Repeat the process, loosening a braid from the secured end of the rope. Make sure the opening is fairly close to the first loop. Pass the unsecured end of the rope through the opening and pull tight.
-
4
Repeat a third time, loosening a braid from the unsecured end of the rope. Make sure the opening is fairly close to the previous two loops. Pass the secured end of the rope through the opening and pull tight.
-
5
Grip the secured end of the rope, next to the tape, and twist gently with both hands until three braid loops loosen. Twist the individual loops around until all three openings are aligned.
-
6
Pass the unsecured end of the rope through the three loop openings. Then pass the rope through the opening formed by the original loop.
-
7
Adjust the halter to the horse as necessary. Secure the end of the rope with electrical tape.
