1
Spray your equipment with an odor-removing spray such as Febreze and let it air out. If you have a couple of days between games, this is the most effective way to get rid of bad odors. Spray the gear frequently as it airs out.
-
2
Hand-wash chest and arm protectors in cold water with a light detergent. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to air dry.
-
3
Wash your helmet in a dishwasher. Helmets are made mostly of plastic and are dishwasher-safe. Don't leave your helmet in the washer to dry, though--let it air dry.
-
4
Use a damp, warm rag to clean the blocker, catch glove and leg pads. Treat the equipment with bacteria-killing solvents such as Lysol to remove any odor. Allow items to air dry.
-
5
Consider having your equipment professionally cleaned. Your local hockey shop may be able to do it, or perhaps it can refer you to someplace else. Pricing will vary by location.
