Identify spots of chaffing. Typical spots of runner chaffing take place between the legs, primarily the inner thigh. You can identify these spots by irritation, pimple like eruptions and soreness. Chafe areas may also be very raw and sensitive. Some runners can experience chaffing under the arms.

Apply generous amounts of Vaseline. Before running, apply large amounts of Vaseline to the arms of chaffing. This will give your body parts much need lubrication.

    • 3

Wear close-fitting pants or shorts. Loose pants or shorts allow your thighs to rub against each other, causing skin-to-skin friction. Make sure your running gear is either close fitting or tight, if you're not bothered by the restriction.

After showering, apply a light coating of Vaseline to moisturize the area of friction. As you dry from the shower, your skin, especially the areas of irritability, can dry out and be vulnerable to additional chaffing.

Repeat at every run. At every run, repeat the steps above. Vaseline, loose clothing, moisturize after showering. Chaffing can go away after a short time of taking care of the problem areas, but it can return if allowed.
