How to Get a Lacrosse Helmet Shiny and Clean

A lacrosse helmet is one of the most important pieces of equipment that a player wears during a game. Between players running at full speed in opposite directions and making shots that have been clocked at more than 100 miles per hour, the helmet is necessary to protect a player from serious head injuries. Lacrosse helmets have a lot of different parts and special care must be taken to keep them shiny and clean.

  • Sponge or cloth
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Helmet polish
  • Disinfectant solution
  • Odor eliminating spray or scented laundry dryer sheets (optional)

      Use a damp sponge or cloth to remove any excess dirt, grass or other debris from the outside of the helmet.

      Add enough liquid dish soap to a bucket of water to make the water sudsy when agitated.

      Dip the sponge in the soapy water and wring it mostly dry. Wipe the surface of the helmet, the face guard and all straps thoroughly. Rinse the sponge and repeat when it becomes dirty. Wipe the surface of the helmet dry with a towel.

      Use a helmet spray polish on the surface of your lacrosse helmet to make it shiny. Apply a thin coating and let it rest on the surface of the helmet for about five minutes. Buff the surface of the helmet with a dry cloth and remove excess polish.

      Apply a light coating of disinfecting solution to the inside of your helmet. Wipe away excess spray with a dry cloth.
