Kickball Objectives
-
Score More Points than Your Opponents
-
The general objective of any kickball game is to score more points than your opponents to ultimately win the game. A player can score a point by kicking the ball far enough that none of his opponents are able to reach the ball before he makes it around all of the bases. A player may also score when he reaches a base and another player then kicks the ball far enough for the first player to reach home plate.
Complete the Required Amount of Innings
-
Depending on which kickball rules and regulations you are following, there may be a different number of innings required for the game. For example, Neighborhood Sports requires that a regulation kickball game lasts for six innings, while WAKA, LLC only requires five innings. It is important that your team finish the required amount of regulation innings for the league you are participating in. This will prevent you from forfeiting the game.
Avoid Outs Whenever Possible
-
Another objective of the game of kickball is to avoid outs whenever possible so that you have the most opportunities to reach home plate and score a point for your team. You will have three outs in each innings before your part of the inning is over. Because players from the opposing team can catch a ball in the outfield and get you out, you should try to kick the ball low to the ground. You should also run fast and dodge any balls that are being thrown at you.
Keep Opponents from Scoring
-
You must be able to keep your opponents from scoring in order to ensure that you score more points than your opponent. To do this you must either strike a player out, catch a fly ball or tag a player out as they are running across the bases. In kickball, you may also throw the ball at an opponent in order to get him out. Beware, however, that if you throw the ball above his shoulders, he is allowed to automatically move to the next base.
