Remington 700 MT Specs

Remington was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington because he believed he could build a better gun. Since then, the company has become one of the largest domestic manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and other hunting products. The Remington 700 series is a center-fire bolt action rifle. In 2011 there are 30 variations of the 700 series. One of those variations is the Mountain LSS model, also known as the 700 MT.
  1. Stock Design

    • The Model 700 Mountain LSS edition features a classic stock design with a sculptured cheek piece to fit comfortably against your body. The stock is crafted from wood to provide a warm durable handle for hiking through the mountains. It also has a straight-line comb angled downward towards the muzzle of the gun.

    Barrel

    • The barrel is produced from 416A stainless steel; this is high-quality steel designed to resist corrosion. The barrel is 22 inches long to reduce the weight for rigorous mountain hikes. The barrel is bored with a 10-inch twist and comes in a variety of calibers including: 270 Win, 7mm-08 Remington, 30-06 Springfield and 280 Remington.

    Receiver and Bolt

    • The receiver is machined from a single piece of sold-steel bar stock. The resulting receiver is both uniform and strong. The cylindrical receiver provides a solid bedding to the stock for repeatable, consistent shots. The recessed bolt face locks inside the counter-bore breech surrounded by the receiver. This forms three rings of steel, adding to the strength of the receiver.

    Other Specifications

    • The 700 Mountain weights approximately six and a half pounds. It has an overall length of around 42 inches. This balance or weight and length is chosen for ease of carrying while hiking challenging mountain trails.
