How to Tuck While Longboarding

A longboard is a longer type of skateboard with larger and softer wheels. The wheels of a longboard range from 60 to 150 millimeters and give the rider a faster ride compared to regular skateboards. The longboard tuck is a position that allows the boarder to go faster and travel longer distances with less effort. Always wear a protective helmet and other protection gear like knee pads and elbow pads, especially when learning new tricks like the longboard tuck.

Instructions

    • 1

Ride your longboard along a slight slope and assume the normal riding position. Prepare to shift body position.

    • 2

Turn your back foot so that the toes are facing forward down the board. Position the front foot as far forward on the board as you can while still maintaining comfort and the ability to make turns. Twist the front foot slightly on an angle.

    • 3

Bend both knees and sink your body weight down. Tuck your back knee behind the front knee. Stabilize the board by shifting your full body weight to the front side of the board.

    • 4

Lower your torso downward and move your chest as close to your front knee as possible.

    • 5

Tuck in both arms behind and keep both hands wrapped out of the way. Keep your head down to avoid neck strain and look up with your eyes. Relax your muscles and feel the speed of the board increase.
