How to Design a Go Kart

Go karts are fun and versatile vehicles to dart around race tracks with your friends or on a professional level. Designing your own go kart is relatively simple; it just takes imagination. Go karts are formed from a simple mechanical framework of a small body, four wheels, brakes and an automotive engine. Sketch a guideline shape for your go kart, and add color and interesting design features to make your go kart stand out from the crowd.

      Research go karts on the Internet. Investigate the different types of go karts available and the different models and styles that can be found to influence your own designs.

      Sketch a simple go kart design, and from this guideline, you can expand your ideas. Take your piece of paper, and draw the wheels of your go kart. Draw your go kart from profile view and then from a bird's eye view. Sketch large circles for the back wheels, and sketch the front wheels smaller. Draw a straight line from the center of the back wheel that curves over the front wheel. Complete the shape of the body by drawing a diagonal point at the front of the kart. Add a T-shape spoiler at the back of the kart and a circular steering wheel.

      Experiment with your designs. Utilize your guideline go kart shape, and copy the basic form with a pencil to manipulate the design. Draw both the back and front wheels an equal size, and bring the body of the kart body lower. Attach a vertical seat shape and add a metal roof frame to which you could include a transparent rain cover. This design is lower than the previous sketch. It will keep your body closer to the floor, so you can drive faster.

      Create a full-bodied go kart. Re-create the car frame and attach it to your guideline shape. Draw a round back and front section to the go kart. Draw the wheels of the car the same shape, and attach a rectangular windscreen to the front of the car. Draw two vertical stripes across the body of the car to add a racing effect. Sketch cushioned seats and a simple steering wheel. Your go kart should resemble a little racing car more than a typical go kart.

      Draw a simple and sleek go kart design. Draw a vertical line across the bottom of the wheels to create the framework of the kart. Draw two small wheels, and add a metal frame for the roof. Add psychedelic colors to your design, and sketch a fluorescent go kart chair. This design definitely will make your kart stand out from the crowd.
