DIY Lacrosse Training Devices
Things You'll Need
- 3-foot section of hollow 3-inch diameter pipe
- Sledgehammer
- Fishing net with a 12- to 16-inch net
- 4 orange traffic cones
Instructions
-
Passing Tool
-
1
Locate an area in a field in which you can pass the ball without damaging buildings or vehicles.
-
2
Drive the section of pipe into the ground about 6 inches with the sledgehammer.
-
3
Place the handle of the fishing net into the hollow end of the pipe that is sticking out of the ground. Stand about 15 yards away and lob passes at the net. This will improve the touch and accuracy of your passes. If you have another player, he can cover you to try to stop passes toward the net.
Footwork Drill
-
4
Locate a flat surface of land with at least a 50-foot square area. Create a square by placing four cones 20 feet apart from each other.
-
5
Stand at one cone, holding your stick with a ball in the basket. Face another one of the cones. Run as fast as you can to the second cone. When you reach the second cone run sideways to the third cone in the square.
-
6
Run backward from the third to the fourth cone. When you reach the fourth cone, run sideways to the first cone. The purpose of this drill is to improve quickness in all of the directions that players are running and to get them used to carrying the stick with a ball in it. You can run the first drill in the middle of the square and have a player pass or shoot at the net.
