Golf

Children ages 6 to 17 can take one-hour golf lessons starting in June at Esmeralda golf course. The four-sessions of golf lessons include rule books, tees and golf balls. Downriver, Esmeralda, Indian Canyon and Qualchan golf courses host tournaments from July to August for children ages 8 to 17. Children ages 10 and under play nine holes from 150 yards. All children who join the tournaments receive green fees, balls, tees and lunch. Prizes are awarded.
Lacrosse

The Spokane Youth Sports Association offers a lacrosse league for four age groups. The 9 and under, 11 and under, 13 and under and 15 and under teams play every Saturday during lacrosse season, which begins in April and ends with a tournament in May. Sports gear including the jersey, mouthpiece, helmet, shoulder pads and stick are issued on the first meeting, where kids attend a skills clinic. The coach determines the time, date and place for practice. Games take place in various fields throughout greater Spokane. Kids get to keep the jersey and mouthpiece.
Volleyball

Skyhawks Sports offers kids ages 7 to 12 a six-week volleyball camp. Children will learn the fundamentals of the game by performing drills and exercises to pass, set, hit and serve the ball. This program usually takes place in the Lidgerwood Elementary School Gym. Camps offered are seasonally based on the availability of the gym.
Basketball

Skyhawks Sports offers six-week basketball camps that meet once a week for children ages 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. Kids ages 7 to 9 will experience drills, games and scrimmages. Children 10 to 12 learn the fundamentals of the game through game-speed drills and exercises and learn how to handle the ball, passing, shooting, defense and rebounding. Kid Sports has a program that teaches four-year-olds to shoot, dribble, pass, catch and jump. A program introduces children ages 5 and 6 to the game of basketball through small, sided scrimmage games. These seven- to 10-week programs occur once a week and are scheduled seasonally.
Soccer

Kid Sports has an under 5 and under 6 league that plays indoor soccer once a week for six weeks. The leagues include a 30-minute clinic and a 20-minute game. Three vs. three leagues for children ages 6 and older are offered. This indoor soccer league has boy, girl and co-ed teams. The games consist of two 20-minute halves and kids play in the one-day tournament. The tournament consists of four or five teams and each team plays a total of four games. A two-day clinic for goalies is offered for children ages 9 to 12 and 13 to 16. Soccer programs are scheduled seasonally.
Tennis

Children ages 5 through 8 can take tennis lesson with U. S. Tennis Association's "QuickStart Tennis." Children learn how to play tennis through age- and skill-specific activities. This program offers children the chance to learn how to play tennis on kid-sized courts, using kid-sized equipment. Kids will learn through spontaneous play, supervised play with parents or organizers and structured play. Tennis is scheduled seasonally.
