How to Attach a Racquetball Strap

When playing racquetball, few things are more embarrassing than accidentally striking yourself or your opponent with your racket. However, injuries resulting from contact between bodies and rackets are not uncommon in racquetball. The game is played in a relatively small space and the high level of exertion required can lead to slippery racket grips. Racquetball rules require all players to wear a wrist strap while playing in order to avoid the possibility that someone will be injured by a racket that inadvertently slips from a player's hand during a game. Proper use of the wrist strap and a proper grip on the racket will minimize the possibility of such injury.

Slide your dominant hand through the wrist strap attached to your racquetball racket.

    • 2

Use your non-dominant hand to rotate the racket in a clockwise motion. This motion will cause the wrist strap to twist in a manner that reduces the size of the opening in the wrist strap and diminishes the chance your hand will slip back out of the wrist strap should you let go of the racket.

Grip the racket with your dominant hand by grasping the racket in such a manner that the "V" formed by your thumb and forefinger is located in the center of the racket's grip.

Slide your hand grasping the racket down the racket grip until the base of the racket grip rests against the lower portion of your palm.and your little finger no longer makes contact with the racket. You are now ready to play racquetball.
