Racquetball Training Tips
-
Proper Equipment
-
Wear racquetball shoes, if you can find some. Basketball shoes usually work well, too. Avoid shoes that you've worn outside or have weak floor-grip.
If you're serious about becoming a skilled racquetball player, buy your own racquet, balls and goggles. Instead of renting equipment that might be uncomfortable, buy the equipment that feels right.
Practice
-
Hit the court at least twice a week and spend at least an hour practicing. Train with someone, if you can. It will make practicing more fun. If you have to practice alone, work on your kill shot--it's what you need if you want to be a champion. Hit a ball as hard and as low on the wall as you can, over and over again. You want it to bounce back as low to the ground as it can.
Strength Training
-
You don't have to be a muscle-head to make those kill shots, but properly training your body for racquetball is a good way to improve your skills. Racquetball uses almost every muscle in your body, and requires quickness, agility and strength. On days when you're not on the racquetball court, hit the weights. You'll begin to notice improvement in your game as you continue to tone your muscles.
