How to Jump Off a Ski Lift
Ski lifts are designed to transport a skier or snowboarder from the bottom of the mountain to the top. It is important to know how to get off a ski lift when enjoying a great day on the slopes. A ski lift is always in motion; it slows down as it reaches the stomp pad, but never actually stops. Proper technique, close attention and coordination will help you exit a ski lift properly and without complication.

1
Place both of your ski poles in one hand. This will allow your other hand to push off the arm rest of the chair when you stand up.
-
2
Keep the tips of your skis pointed upward as you approach the unloading area. This will prevent the tips of your skis from getting caught in the snow and tripping you.
-
3
Allow the bottom of your skis to hit the snow as the chair reaches the unloading area. Point your skis straight forward in the direction you are exiting.
-
4
Stand up slowly from the chair lift using your arms to push off the arm rests of the chair. Allow the chair to push against the back of your legs to push you forward. Glide away from the chair lift, clearing the unloading area.
