How to Wax Fischer Skis

Fischer Nordic skis consist of race, sports, backcountry and jumping skis while Fischer Alpine skis include mountain and slope-style skis. Regularly waxing Fischer skis allows them to glide over the snow more smoothly. It also helps the skis to maintain their appearance and last longer without becoming dull. The same waxing techniques may be applied to each of the different Fischer Nordic and Alpine skis.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the skis on the wax bench so that you will have access to the bases of the skis.

    • 2

Hold the skis in place by attaching the ski vises and clamping them down on the wax bench.

    • 3

Remove the old wax from the skis with the scraper. Choose a direction in which to move the scraper and go in that direction each time so that the scraping will be less noticeable in the final result.

    • 4

Turn the waxing iron on and wait for it to heat up. Do not test the heat by touching the waxing iron. Check the heat by holding your hand a couple of inches away from the waxing iron. If you feel the heat from a distance, then the waxing iron is ready.

    • 5

Hold the waxing iron over top of the skis without actually touching the skis.

    • 6

Hold a glide wax rod firmly against the hot side of the waxing iron. The waxing iron will melt the glide wax rod.

    • 7

Allow the melted wax to drip onto the bases of the skis, covering as much of the bases as possible.

    • 8

Press the waxing iron against the ski bases and use it to spread the wax and smooth it down.

    • 9

Remove the extra wax from the sides of the skis using the scraper.
