1
Rotate your ski upside down to view the smooth underside. Place the sharp edge of your ski scraper onto either end of the ski. Hold the ski in place with your non-dominant hand as your scrape down the length of the ski blade. Remove any old wax or residue that has been formed on the bottom of your ski. Repeat the cleaning process with the other ski.

2
Rub a dry cotton cloth over the underside of your skis to remove any residue or wax particles. Purchase an inexpensive clothing iron or a more expensive specialized skiing iron. Plug in the iron. Give the iron a few minutes to reach its optimal heat.

3
Choose an appropriate type of paraffin ski wax based on the conditions of the riding terrain. Select a purple or blue colored ski wax if you plan to ski in extremely cold winter conditions. Pick a red or yellow colored paraffin ski wax for warmer spring or summer skiing conditions.

4
Remove the paraffin ski wax from its plastic packaging. Hold the handle of your hot iron in your dominant hand. Place the paraffin wax into your non-dominant hand. Extend the wax and the iron over the underside of your first ski. Press the wax against the hot component of the iron.

5
Apply the liquefied wax onto the front and back sections of your skis. Avoid placing the paraffin wax onto the middle sections of your skis as this area requires a different type of wax. Place the iron onto your skis to spread the wax evenly. Rub around the edges of your skis with the scraper to remove any excess wax.
