How to Change a Dragon DX Lens

Dragon Alliance is a well-respected manufacturer of snow goggles. The DX model, in particular, is popular. A brand new pair of snow goggles will only last so long, eventually collecting scratches from spills on the slope. There is no reason, however, to pay for an entirely new pair if the polyurethane frame itself is not broken. Spend only a fraction of the cost by replacing the lens yourself, so that you can put the rest of your money toward getting some better gear.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a replacement lens. The easiest way is to go to the Dragon Alliance website and buy directly (see link in References). Third party websites, however, also sell replacements.

    • 2

Remove the original scratched lens. Start near the top and separate the lens from the frame by holding the bottom tightly with one hand, while pulling the top away with the other hand. You should feel the plastic frame pull back and hear a clicking sound. Continue to slide the lens from the frame's groove, pulling the lens from the nose section last.

Take the new lens and pull back a side of the plastic covering about 1 inch. You need to do this to be able to remove the plastic once the frame is inserted; keeping the rest of it on will prevent fingerprints all over the new frame.

Take the new frame and gently insert it at the nose first. Make sure it slides in the groove correctly, then continue around the sides. Slide the top part into the groove last and make sure everything is lined up correctly. The lens should have no separation from the frame. Peel any remaining plastic from the lens.
