Long Island Skiing Bus Trips

Ski trips from Long Island can be difficult, as New York City traffic lies between you and your destination. Additionally, there are no public transportation options to ski resorts from Long Island or New York City. However, there are convenient and safe ways for travel to and from your winter sports destinations.

Ski tour companies provide transportation for day trips and overnight trips to ski resorts throughout the Northeast from Long Island. If you want to be part of a group, there are ski clubs throughout Long Island that provide carpooling or organize their own bus trips.
  1. Bus Tour Companies

    • Ski tour companies offer pick ups at key exits along the Long Island Expressway. Many of the companies provide package deals that include a day-long lift ticket, ski and/or snowboard rentals, as well as transportation. Island Ski Tours and its sister company Danril Ski Tours provide day packages for trips to Windham Mountain, New York and Jiminy Peak, Massachusetts. Their packages include discounted lift tickets and equipment rental options. Snowbirds Ski Tours offers a shuttle between Stratton Mountain, Vermont as well as overnight trips to various ski resorts in the Northeast. Maximum Tours offers day trips to 10 different ski areas in New York, Massachusetts and Vermont.

    Ski Clubs

    • Another option is to join one of the numerous ski clubs on Long Island. The clubs often have minimum age requirements so make sure you check the rules for membership in each club before joining. The Suffolk Skidaddlers, with meetings in Deer Park, run more than 20 ski trips a season, including overnight and week-long trips to areas outside the Northeast. The 50+ Ski Club is, as the name suggests, for people over the age of 50. They run bus trips once a year, carpool trips many weekdays and one overnight trip to Colorado. The Cresthaven Ski Club holds meetings in Floral Park, and organizes day, overnight and week-long trips throughout each ski season. The Long Island East Ski club organizes major trips to Colorado and Europe each winter, and numerous shorter trips during the season.

    Ski Clubs with Lodges

    • A few Long Island ski clubs own lodges at ski resorts, thus providing discounts to their members. The membership dues are often higher than other ski clubs; however, in many cases they allow members to bring guests to the lodge. The Garden City Ski Club owns a lodge in Mad River Valley, Vermont. In addition to lodge trips, the club organizes week-long trips to Colorado and Utah ski resorts. The Grumman Ski Club owns a lodge in Ludlow, Vermont and organizes bus trips to the lodge throughout the ski season.
