1
Draw a rectangle shape on an even grass surface with a spray can. The two longer sides of the rectangle, the touchlines, should be between 100 and 130 yards and the two shorter sides, goal lines, between 50 and 100 yards long. The two goals are placed on the center of each shorter side, 8 feet in length.
-
2
Draw a rectangular box in from of the goal, with the goal line being used as one of the longer sides. Draw two lines from the goal line and 6 feet from each goal post, going 6 feet into the field, also called the 6-yard box.
-
3
Draw a rectangle in the same way as in the Step 2. Draw lines starting from the goal line and 18 feet from each post, 18 feet into the field, forming a rectangle called the penalty area or the 18-yard box. Draw a filled circle spot 12 feet from the goal line pointing to the center of the goal, a penalty mark, about the size of a soccer ball. Draw a half-circle outside the edge of the 18-yard box, 10 yards form the penalty circle called the penalty arc.
-
4
Draw a straight line across the center of the field, from one longer side of the field to the other. Draw a filled circle spot, like a penalty spot, in the center of the field, on the center line. Draw a circle with a 10-yard radius form the center spot, marking the center of the field.
-
5
Draw an arc in each corner, 1 foot from the corner, where the ball will be placed when corner-kicks are taken. The ball can be placed within the arc area or any place on the arc line.
