How to Create Your Own Goalie Gloves

Goalie gloves provide a valuable tool for goalies, giving them the grip to catch a soccer ball, particularly on a wet day. Additionally, goalies themselves sweat during a game, which doesn't help natural grip. A good pair of goalie gloves can make a difference. If you're tight on a budget, you can still make a pair with a bit of glue, rubber and and old pair of leather biking gloves.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain a pair of soft leather biking gloves, preferably broken in and used. Lay them out on a table with the palm side facing up.

    • 2

Use a pair of scissors and cut small round circles or squares out from a thin sheet of rubber gasket which you can buy at a local automotive parts store. Cut enough pieces to generally cover the gloves' palm surface if the pieces are spread out.

    • 3

Apply a good bonding glue to one side of a rubber piece you just cut. Glue that side and piece to the palm area of the glove. Repeat the process with the other pieces, spacing them out evenly across the palm area and the inner fingers surface of the gloves. Let the glued pieces dry.

Put on the homemade goalie gloves and try them out in a practice soccer game, catching the ball as it approaches.
