Measurements of Standard Astroturf Pitch

A standard soccer (or football) Astroturf pitch can vary dependent upon location. There are minimums and maximum sizes these pitches must follow to meet regulations in the world of professional soccer.
  1. Entire Pitch

    • The differences in pitch size are strategic to either speed up or slow play down depending on the home team's preference. The length of a standard pitch can be from 100 yards to 130 yards while the width can be anywhere from 50 yards to 100 yards.

    Scoring Area

    • The scoring area is made up of three parts: the penalty box, the 6-yard box, and the goal. The penalty box must be 18 yards long by 44 yards wide. The 6-yard box sits inside the penalty box and must be 6 yards long by 20 yards wide. The goal is inside all this and is 8 yards wide.

    Pitch Dimensions

    • The only other mandatory dimensions are the center circle and center line. The center circle radius must have a radius of 10 yards. The center line must be exactly in the middle of the length of the entire pitch.
