Applying for a NCAA Division II soccer scholarship is similar to applying for a job; relevant experience increases your opportunities. It isn't enough to simply play on a high school soccer team. You should also play on a private club team, and participate in soccer camps during the summer. Compete to play on your state's soccer team in the Olympic Development Program (ODP), a US Youth Soccer Program to identify players of the hightest caliber. Create a three to five minute video, highlighting your best moments on the field.

NCAA eligibility is rigorous. Start the process during your junior year of high school by filling out an NCAA customer payment form. The fee is $60 as of 2010. NCAA eligibility requirements are: High school graduation, pass at least 14 core courses as established by the NCAA, a minimum high school GPA of 2.0, a minimum score of 820 on the SAT or a minimum total score of 68 on the ACT and a letter of intent. After April 1 of your senior year, complete a NCAA amateurism questionnaire and request NCAA certification. Your eligibility should be in effect by the end of your senior year of high school.
Research and Apply to Division II Schools

NCAA Division II soccer teams are spread out in 22 conferences. A college-bound soccer player can easily find a college or university that fits both his academic pursuits and offers a soccer scholarship. Due to the large number of Division II soccer schools, obtaining a scholarship can be relatively easy to extremely difficult; it all depends on the soccer program. Many schools give out a mix of partial and full scholarships.
