How to Remove the End Cap on a T-Ball Bat
It is necessary to remove the end cap from your T-ball bat in order to shave it. Shaving your bat will enable its walls to compress more when contact is made with the ball. The trampoline effect can add as much as 30 to 50 feet to your distance. The walls are shaved by using a lathe. End caps are not made to be removed, so work carefully or you may cause irreparable damage to your T-ball bat.

Heat the end cap of your T-ball bat with the heat gun for at least 10 minutes. The expanding wood will expedite the removal process. This step is not necessary with aluminum bats.

Place the screwdriver between the bat and the end cap, and tap gently with the hammer. Do not hit too hard or you may damage the bat.

3
Work your way around the end cap, sticking the screwdriver in and gently tapping until the end cap is pried loose from the bat.
