How to Break in a Wilson A2000 Fastpitch Glove

A Wilson A2000 fastpitch softball glove is specifically designed for the fast action in the infield and outfield of a softball park. When you first buy the mitt, it is stiff, which makes your hand hurt, as the leather needs to be broken in. To break it in, you must apply moisturizer and use it, because if you do not, the mitt will never loosen.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the mitt to play catch to allow the mitt to fit your playing style. Playing an hour or more is good.

    • 2

Rub moisturizer all over the glove. This tenderizes the leather by soaking into the chemical bonds and loosening them, especially in hard-to-reach areas, such as the area below the webbing in between your thumb and index finger. Allow it to set for an hour, then dry it off with a clean towel.

Play catch using the glove. The moisturizer allows the leather to contour into the shape of your hand more and softens it up for use.
