Complete DIY Tuning
-
1
Buy a mainspring compressor. The compressor holds the rifle securely while relaxing (decompressing) the mainspring in a controlled manner. It is possible to build a mainspring compressor, but unless you're an avid gun enthusiast, buying one is easier. There are mainspring compressors made with aluminum that are lightweight and very adjustable.

2
Disassemble the trigger assembly. In the Beeman Kodiak, the trigger comes out by punching out two crosspins. The safety is spring-loaded and is released when the trigger unit drops free.
-
3
Unscrew the end cap. The end cap holds the mainspring in the gun under compression. It simply unscrews from the spring tube.
-
4
Separate the barrel from the spring tube to release the piston.
Using a Tuning Kit
-
5
Buy a Maccari kit. Maccari is an economical brand of kit, yet of good quality. Air Rifle Headquarters custom makes kits for Beeman and other air rifle brands.
-
6
Disassemble the Beeman Kodiak in the same manner way as for complete DIY tuning.
-
7
Use the kit to provide matched parts for the barrel, the trigger and the other air rifle mechanisms.
