How to Put Red Dot Scope on a Benelli M2

The Benelli M2 is a semi-automatic shotgun designed for sport shooting. Sport shooting commonly requires quick target identification and acquisition; red dot scopes are specifically designed for this kind of shooting. Red dot scopes operate by emitting a bright LED inside the scope housing. They typically provide no magnification--just a "floating" dot that can only be seen by the shooter. A major benefit of red dot scopes is that they allow shooting with both eyes open. Red dot scopes are typically produced with weaver style scope rings and can be attached to a Benelli M2 shotgun equipped with a weaver style scope mount.

Instructions

  1. Mount Installation

    • 1

Check the shotgun’s chamber and ensure that your Benelli M2 is unloaded.

    • 2

Remove the original rear sight, using a small flathead screwdriver. If your Benelli M2 shotgun is not equipped with a rear sight, then remove the scope mounting screws that are preinstalled on top of the shotguns receiver.

    • 3

Place the weaver mount style scope base on the top of the receiver and align the base screw-holes with those of the shotgun. Use the screws included with the weaver base and firmly secure the base to the shotgun.

    Scope Installation

    • 4

Loosen the mounting screws at the base of your red dot scope and expand the mounting bracket.

    • 5

Align the scope's mounting screws with the slots cutting across the weaver base mount.

    • 6

Position the mounting bracket along the sides of the weaver scope mount and tighten the mounting screws.
