Instructions

    • 1

Gather your shooting materials. Make sure you have enough ammunition of the correct size, at least three paper targets, your firearm and possibly a sighting scope. Carry your firearm in an approved gun case so you do not damage it in transit.

    • 2

Check your firearm to be sure it is unloaded. Remove the bolt and take the time to look down the chamber.

    • 3

Pack your gun case, and be sure you pack your pistol and ammunition separately from each other. As an added precaution, remove the gun clip or bolt and pack it separately from the firearm as well.

    • 4

Have your carry license or permit with you if you carry a single or double action pistol that requires it. You don't want to interrupt your trip to the range with a trip to the police station.

    • 5

Find an appropriate range, set up your target and relax. Target shooting is a fun and relaxing sport if you make safety a priority and don't expect too much from your accuracy until you get comfortable with the setup of your new firearm.
