Contact the National Rifle Association

Call the NRA Training Department at 703-267-1430. They will be able to provide you with a list of Training Counselors in your geographic area.

Contact a local NRA Training Counselor. Go to the website at: http://www.nrahq.org/education/training/instructor.asp. Everything you need to know about becoming an NRA-Certified Instructor can be found here.

Communicate with your Training Counselor to find out where and when the next course will be held.
Qualify as an NRA Instructor

Gain an extensive knowledge of firearms and firearm safety through previous firearm training or from shooting experience. Shooting skills and firearm safety are both crucial aspects in becoming an NRA-Certified Instructor.

Complete, successfully, the NRA Instructor Training Course for the discipline you desire to teach (i.e. NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course). You can choose from a list of 11 different disciplines: Basic Pistol Shooting, Basic Rifle Shooting, Basic Shotgun Shooting, Basic Muzzleloading Pistol, Basic Muzzleloading Rifle, Basic Muzzleloading Shotgun, Personal Protection, Home Firearm Safety, Metallic Cartridge Reloading, Shotgun Shell Reloading and Range Safety Officer. You can become certified in as many disciplines as you wish. The NRA is always looking for knowledgeable, responsible people to spread the word about safe and proper firearm handling.

Pass the NRA-Certified Instructor assessment with a 90 percent or higher.

Send in your endorsed application with the correct certification fee.

Teach classes. It is now your duty to promote firearm safety and shooting sports. By becoming an NRA-Certified Instructor, you are a crucial part of the sport shooting community. You are now helping new generations of people to enjoy responsible firearm ownership, just like you have enjoyed.
