1
Consider the terrain you'll be walking through on your shooting trip. Choose footwear according to that terrain. For rough and rocky areas you'll want to wear a good pair of boots, preferably waterproof to protect you from twisted ankles or stepping on something that would puncture athletic shoes. Select army boots or hiking boots that fit well and do not rub.

2
Choose quality clothing to protect you from the elements. There are plenty of companies that specialize in making clothing for the sport shooter. If choosing camouflage, select the pattern according to the area you'll be shooting in. Wear protective leg wear as well as a coat to protect your legs.

Think about purchasing guards. These can be built into t-shirts or worn separately, but they protect you from rebound when shooting. You can also purchase shin guards and knee protectors if you'll be climbing through rough woods or kneeling to shoot. They are inconspicuous and offer a great deal of protection for your body.

4
Remember protective eye wear. Typical safety goggles are fine if you're wearing contacts or don't need corrective lenses. Talk to your eye doctor about choosing appropriate safety goggles if you wear glasses or need the goggles to be corrective.

5
Purchase something that is bright orange, either a vest or a hat to keep you safe from other shooters who may or may not be with your party. This is essential to your safety, particularly if you're wearing camouflage.
