1
Wear comfortable tennis shoes. When playing outdoor tennis, wear shoes that will provide you with comfort and traction. Tennis shoes are also specifically designed so they don’t damage the clay surface that coats many tennis courts.

2
Check with the tennis court to find out if they have a dress code. Many establishments have simple dress codes that require you to wear modest attire which includes tennis shirts, skirts and shorts. Although you don’t need to have specific tennis clothes, you should avoid wearing jeans and other casual clothing items.

3
Consider wearing light colored clothing if you will be playing outside in the heat. Many players choose to wear white or light pastel colors because they reflect the sun. This will help keep you cool when playing in the hot sun.
-
4
Wear a ball cap or visor to protect your eyes from the sun. Since many players do not wear sunglasses when they play — they can fall off or impede view of the ball — it is a good idea to wear a hat or visor. This will help keep your head cool and give your eyes some shade.
-
5
Wear sweat bands on your arms and forehead. If you’re playing on a hot day, this will help soak up any sweat which can distract you during a game of tennis.
