How to Store Camouflage

Camouflage gear needs special care when not in use in order to be usable in the woods. Not only is it important that your game not see you, but also that they don't smell you. Don't wash gear in regular laundry soap because some wild game have eyes that are sensitive to the ultraviolet dyes in the soap. Their sense of smell is just as sensitive, so precautions must be taken to rid your camo of all human scent.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your camouflage gear with the laundry soap manufactured just for hunting gear. Always use only this soap for your gear or it will be exposed to ultraviolet dyes that may not wash out.

    • 2

Dry your camouflage in the sun on a clothes line until completely dry. If any moisture remains, you run the risk of mold or mildew growing on your clothes.

    • 3

Spray your camouflage with spray-on scent killer that may be purchased at most sporting goods departments or stores.

    • 4

Put your folded clothes in a plastic garbage bag or purchased scent-free bag along with activated charcoal to absorb any human odor.
