How to Wear an Athletic Supporter

An athletic supporter, often referred to as a jockstrap or a jock, is an undergarment used by athletes to support their genitals. As a man is active, there is the potential for injury just from his testicles bouncing around. Athletic supporters come in different designs, but they usually have a fairly thick waistband, a pouch and two leg straps.

Instructions

    • 1

Try on the athletic supporter (if at all possible) before you buy it. You're looking not only for support but fit.

    • 2

Go up a size if the pouch feels too tight. Snug is fine, but you don't want the pouch tight. The size of the athletic supporter is in relation to the waistband. Since there is an elastic give to the band, a size up will usually fit around the waist while providing the needed room in the pouch.

    • 3

Shift the waistband so it sits right along your waist just above the hip.

    • 4

Adjust the leg straps so they come just under the buttocks. They should be fairly snug so that the band can't shift as you move.

    • 5

Adjust yourself so that your penis is pointing down, which is the best position when the athletic supporter is holding a protective cup.

    • 6

Add a pair of compression shorts if you want additional support. These you would put on before donning the athletic supporter.
