1
Find a racquet that's no longer than 27 inches and wider than 8.5 inches. The string area can be no bigger than 90 square inches. The maximum weight permitted is 9 ounces, with 4 to 7 ounces being the average. Most racquets are made from metals or composites with synthetic strings.

2
Hunt for the ball. Balls all tend to be made of rubber compounds that have a hollow center. There are differences in the amount of bounce that each ball has and it is color coded. Double yellow is the slowest with yellow next, and green and white being average. Red has a medium bounce, and blue is fast for the beginner. More experienced players want a slower ball that has less bounce, which makes the play more difficult.

3
Get regulation eye gear. The US Squash Racquet Association has a list of recommended protective eyewear found. Although many players do not wish to wear them, the protective gear has been proven to dramatically reduce damage to the eyes.

4
Buy shoes made for squash that have non marking bottoms, but allow for good grip for turns. Plenty of foot support is necessary for this vigorous sport.
-
5
Find clothes that are in good taste. The associations rule out any that would endanger the player or be indecent. Most men wear a polo shirt and shorts with women wearing the same or skirts.
