How to Watch a Squash Tournament
Instructions

-
1
Understand the games begins by spinning a squash racquet. The winner of the spin is the server.
-
2
Watch for the serve. The serving player stands in a box and must hit the ball between two lines. One line, the top line, is the out of court and the other, the bottom one, is called the tin. The ball must bounce back into the opposite side. When this happens, a rally begins.
-
3
Know that the server has to throw the ball in the air and hit it before it touches the floor. He must also keep his foot in the serving box and hit the back wall as stated before. If the server throws the ball in the air, but doesn't try to hit it, he gets to try again.
-
4
Remember that the other player can allow the ball to bounce once and then hit it. She can bounce the ball off a side wall to hit the area between out and the tin or she can hit it directly. The other player then must do the same.
-
5
Count the points if the non-server fails to return the ball at any time. The server is called the striker and gets the points even if it hits the opponent or opponent clothes if it would have been good. It is considered a let if it hit any other wall and no points are scored. The server loses the stroke if the return wouldn't have been good and it strikes the opponent.
-
6
Watch for the match to end when one player gets 9 points. If the game is tied at 8 all then the players get to decide whether to play a set of one or a set of two. Each full game consists of 5 matches.
