Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the kickboard with both hands and position yourself on your stomach with the board in your outstretched arms. Extend your legs straight out.

    • 2

Kick your legs alternately, originating the movement from your hips and moving each leg up and down in the water.

    • 3

Keep your toes pointed and your ankles loose so your feet move and flex through the water as you move your legs. Bend your legs at the knees slightly as you kick.

    • 4

Strive to keep your kick small with your knees in line with your body. Do not raise your feet high out of the water as you kick. Just breaking the surface of the water with your feet is adequate.

    • 5

Practice flutter kicking with the kickboard, concentrating on the kick without adding any strokes or breathing sequences.

    • 6

Add arm strokes after your flutter kick becomes strong. Keep your flutter kick constant while you stroke with your arms and breathe.
