How to Make Swimming Goggles Fog-Free

When swimming, the last thing you need to deal with is vision loss. Whether you are competing, training or playing, keeping your goggles fog-free is important. If you can't see clearly, you could swim into another swimmer, hit the wall or lose your mark. If you use goggles to play water sports, fogged-up goggles affect your game. Though manufacturers have made great strides in goggle development, many pairs get foggy when worn for a length of time. However, you can reduce and eliminate the fog with very little effort.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy goggles manufactured with an anti-fog barrier on the lens. This does not last forever, but the less often you touch the lens, the longer the barrier will keep your goggles fog-free.

    • 2

Spritz a small amount of anti-fog spray on your goggle lenses when they begin to fog up. The spray rejuvenates the anti-fog coating, and keeps your goggles clear for quite a while. Repeat as necessary, but remember, you only need a small amount.

    • 3

Spit on your goggle lenses if you do not have anti-fog spray. Wet the goggles in the pool, spit on the lens and gently rub your spit into the goggle lens. Rinse the goggles out.

    • 4

Pour a small amount of baby shampoo onto the goggle lens. Gently rub it all around the lens. Rinse thoroughly.
