How to Install a Doughboy Above-Ground Swimming Pool

An above-ground pool is a great addition to any family's summer, and Doughboy provides several family-friendly designs. While a Doughboy pool is best assembled with friends, it is a project you can complete on your own, without having to spend money on professional assembly. Your Doughboy pool kit will include all pool-related supplies.

Instructions

  1. Laying the Framework

    • 1

Remove the sod where your pool will be placed, and level the ground. Dig out higher areas until they are the same height as the lowest point.

    • 2

Assemble the bottom frame, placing a patio block at each seam in the frame where two pieces come together.

    • 3

Install the wall by unrolling it in 6- to 10-foot segments and inserting it into the bottom framework.

    • 4

Slide the wall joint into place to join the start and end of the wall.

    • 5

Slide the verticals into position at each seam in the frame, and top them off with end caps.

    • 6

Put the top railings on around the perimeter of the pool and hold them in place by inserting the top caps onto the verticals.

    • 7

Create a "cove" around the interior of the pool, by tightly packing dirt around the entire interior in an arc that is approximately 6 inches high, and 9 inches long, or using pre-made cove wedges.

    Filling Your Pool

    • 8

Place the liner along the surface of the pool, leaving about 2 feet of hangover around all sides of the pool.

    • 9

Clip the liner to the pool with binder clips on either side of the verticals.

    • 10

Begin filling the pool with a hose until the water level is above the cove.

    • 11

Remove three adjacent sections of the top rail.

    • 12

Slide the coping over the liner, and the stabilizers over the coping in the exposed sections.

    • 13

Replace the removed top railings, and repeat the process for the remainder of the pool, traveling clockwise until the entire liner is secure.

    • 14

Finish filling the pool with water.
